Funny man Jeremy Garelick has been tapped to write a film adaptation of the busty television show BAYWATCH for Paramount Pictures. Garelick, who did an uncredited rewrite of THE HANGOVER, will also make his directorial debut with the scantily-clad production. Apparently DreamWorks-turned-Paramount producer, Adam Goodman, purchased the rights to an adaptation back in 2005 and started work on an action film similar to the original series, giving Garelick the role of punching up the funny hah-hah. Garelick saw the opportunity and decided to rewrite a first act as a straight up comedy.
“It felt like the template to do a movie that was similar to STRIPES and POLICE ACADEMY, the comedies I loved growing up.”
To me, this sounds like someone is opening Pandora’s Box. BAYWATCH will be a glorified t-and-a fest, I’m sure, but now we can also expect to see Zach Galifianakis, Patton Oswald and several other funny men who you’d rather not endure 2 hours of man-kini time with. Ewwwies. Check out the full article here.
Extra Tidbit: Garelick also worked as Joel Schumacher’s assistant on PHONE BOOTH.
